Fun Games on a Budget - One More Dungeon

The majority of people would agree that being rewarded for completing an impossible task by yourself is what makes the whole experience worth it. A game like One More Dungeon (released on Steam in 2015 by Stately Snail) is a prime example of tough and interesting gameplay. This game also retails for $4.99 USD in the Steam store with frequent sales of around $1.25. On the Switch, Xbox One, and PS4 the game is priced at $7.99 which is still a good price for the amount of time you can play and enjoy in this game.
    One More Dungeon Splash
One More Dungeon is a procedurally generated first person dungeon crawler. Although, each floor is random in layout the theme is the same. Every floor has a boss the player has to slay to get the seal which opens the door to proceed to the next floor. The enemies can have elemental effects which the player can counter (for example fire elemental enemy use water element to deal the most damage.) The player can fight enemies with a staff and melee. Both are equipped at the same time and each weapon can have grades. Staffs can have grades with different effects and the higher the grade the more damage you can deal. Elemental staffs are the ones you'll see the most often like acid, fire, and ice. But, if you find secret doors and kill hard enemies you can find other staffs like the spider bomb which is a tracking bomb that does big damage. Melee weapons behave same as staffs in terms of spawning. The most common melee weapons you'll see are daggers, swords, axes, and spears. Elemental versions also exist for melee weapons that deal big damage as well.

Weapon and player modifiers are also big on the game. The rings, amulet, and scroll mechanic are something the player can utilize to be able to achieve maximum overdrive on all incoming foes. Rings give the player passive effects like health and less type element damage. Amulets give substantial benefits like cheaper item shops and more loot drops. Scrolls are active items that use your sanity. Some are time based (ex. 3 sanity a second) and some are burst use (ex. 20 sanity per use) which can change the flow of a battle in an instance. To even be able to collect these items you have to avoid dying which is why there are decent drops for health potions, regeneration potions, and antidote potions if you're in a pickle.
One More Dungeon Shop

Shops are something you will encounter throughout your many playthroughs and they sell different grade items based on what floor you are on. You can buy items using "Skull Tokens" which are found by breaking boxes, killing enemies, and doing warp room challenges. Use your judgement when buying as sometimes the tokens are hard to come by in the early stages if you aren't lucky it can cause the enemies to have an upper hand on you in the later floors when you're mal-equipped for the job.

One More Dungeons has a feature keen players will see on the new game selection, mutators! Yes, players can select mutators to make it easy or challenge themselves. You can select from halving the health of enemies to losing 1 hp every 30 seconds. Players can unlock these with the score they collected from previous games and this increases replayability a lot.

One More Dungeon is a game most people will enjoy if they want a good offline experience that can inspire players to do better each time by using new weapons and strategies to conquer all floors. But until then, when your roommate keeps inviting you to functions you can just tell him, "hold on just One More Dungeon."
