Fun Games on a Budget - Ziggurat

Have you ever wanted to experience the every man's power fantasy of being a one man army but are more skilled with magic instead of ripping and tearing?  Ziggurat, a 3D first person shooter dungeon crawler made by Milkstone Studios is just that game. Although it retails for $14.99 USD on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and PC there are frequent sales of it on Steam for $2.99. I don't have the means to view the sale history of consoles but I'd assume they would follow a similar sale price.

This game features a very unique twist to the regular gameplay style were all familiar of. The player is given four slots with one of them being a wand and the other three being their own type of weapon. The weapons are: spells, staves, and alchemic items which have their own mana pool. Additionally, the player can find amulets which have a charged active that can grant buffs like speed and bonus damage.
Ziggurat Gameplay Fight
The game has many gameplay features that will entice the player to keep coming back. One of them is how the level up mechanism works. Ziggurat uses a card level up system that gives the player a very wide range of stat boosts. After the player makes enough runs they can unlock new characters that come with a card and weapon loadout instead of having none to start with. The player can unlock weapons this way too.
Ziggurat Level Up
For the players that want lore in their game this one has loads. You can collect scrolls in a scroll room if generated by the floor which will tell you pieces of the game's story. This will also offer XP and can be accessed anytime for a binge read in the extras menu under "The Library". For the competitive mages there is a Hall of Fame which calculates the player character's score and compare it to others. They also offer useful stats like enemies killed and damage taken.

For completionists the game has an "Armory" that shows you what items you've picked up throughout your entire game journey like cards, weapons, and amulets. There is also the "Bestiary" that shows animated models of the enemies you've fought. You can also view the amount of times you've been bested by each mob.

To end, this game is worth the play for anyone that wants a fun wizardry experience. To overpower your foes with deadly spells and AOE amulets and seeing the glorious loot sprawled out on the floor really does make the game have a spark that sticks.

What did you think of my review? As of writing this I have over 85 hours of total playtime on Ziggurat and hope you will enjoy this game as much as I did. Have a question? Let me know what you think in the comment section.
